Aon opens new branch in Wollongong expanding NSW footprint

Sydney, 15 August 2019 – Aon (NYSE:AON), the leading global professional services firm providing a broad range of risk, retirement and health solutions, is expanding its offering in South East NSW with the opening of a new branch in Wollongong, driving growth in businesses in this area.

The new branch extends Aon’s offering from coast to country, amounting to 35 Aon offices across Australia, 13 of which in NSW and ACT alone.

Kevan Johnston, Managing Director, Commercial said, “The new Wollongong branch reinforces Aon’s commitment to expanding our offering and solutions to businesses across all areas of Australia. Building on our existing presence in Nowra, a Wollongong branch provides a strategic position in the heart of the strong Southern NSW business corridor from Newcastle, Sydney, through to Canberra.”

To lead the regional expansion, Aon has appointed Drew Ferns as Regional Director, Wollongong, South Coast and Southern Highlands. Born and raised in the Wollongong area, Drew is a respected member of the business community and has extensive experience in developing insurance strategies to grow local businesses of all sizes. Drew said, “As the third largest city in NSW and the tenth largest city in Australia, Wollongong is an important and busy business hub. Opening a branch here allows Aon to cover a significant network gap that exists today.

“With approximately 13,000 local businesses in Wollongong, the new branch will provide services and solutions to some of the key economic drivers in the area, such as Manufacturing, Construction, Real Estate, Financial & Insurance services and Healthcare.”

Drew’s first priority will be to embed the team and Aon’s skilled representation, complementing its service offering to existing and prospective clients in the broader region.

The Aon Wollongong branch will open on Thursday 15 August in Corporate Square, Level 4, 43 Burelli Street, Wollongong
