Aon recognised in Australia for commitment and achievement in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives for third consecutive year

SYDNEY, June 13 2024 - Aon plc (NYSE: AON), a leading global professional services firm, announced today that it has been awarded the Insurance Business Diversity, Equity and Inclusion 2024 Medal in Australia in recognition of its commitment and achievement in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) initiatives.

The Insurance Business research team reviewed the DE&I initiatives of insurance firms in Australia over the past 12 months to determine the winners. During a 15-week process, the team conducted one-on-one interviews with DE&I professionals to gain a keen understanding of industry standards and learn which companies met or exceeded these expectations.

“At Aon, our vision is to create an inclusive working environment that recognises and values the unique qualities, experiences and contributions of all colleagues. This award recognises our commitment to providing a colleague experience where every individual feels more connected, more relevant and more valued. We will continue to champion and celebrate diversity and inclusion in all forms, across all levels of our firm and in our industry,” said Jennifer Richards, chief executive officer of Aon in Australia.

In Australia, Aon delivers a range of DE&I initiatives for its colleagues, including:

  • Developing our Gender Equity Strategy to create an inclusive working environment where colleagues are empowered to reach their full potential.
  • Appointing executive leaders to sponsor senior female talent.
  • Training our leaders in inclusive hiring practices, focusing on the skills required rather than industry experience to attract hires to specialist roles.
  • Facilitating awareness sessions for diverse groups: LGBTQI+ Rainbow CafĂ© morning tea, International Women’s Day Panel session and First Nations Acknowledgment of Country workshops.
  • Joining Chief Executive Women and the Champions of Change Coalition to help positively influence gender-based issues in the industry.
  • Hosting a Dive In Festival panel session on creating inclusive workplaces for people with a disability.

Deb Gibson, client director and leader of the inclusion business resource group and member of the Asia-Pacific regional inclusion and diversity sub-committee, added, “Colleagues achieve their potential when they feel a sense of belonging and are free to bring their authentic selves to work, and we know diverse and inclusive teams deliver better insights and solutions for clients. We celebrate the strides we are making towards becoming a more diverse and inclusive team, and we are committed to continuous growth towards greater diverse representation.”
