Aon announces changes designed to accelerate the growth trajectory for its Australian Commercial and Broking businesses
Sydney, 8 May, 2017 – Aon Risk Solutions has announced the appointment of James Baum as Managing Director of Commercial and Chairman of Aon Broking, which takes effect immediately.
"To date, James has effectively and skilfully balanced increasing responsibilities beyond the broking remit. In doing so, he has demonstrated the benefits of greater alignment between the Commercial and Broking businesses," said Lambros Lambrou, Chief Executive Officer, Aon Risk Solutions Australia.
"I am thrilled that James has agreed to step into this expanded role. Under his leadership, we will continue to bring our world class capabilities to the market, while continuing to evolve the way we interact with clients. We will also continue to build and strengthen our talent to deliver against our growth projections."
As Chairman of Aon Broking, James will have strategic oversight of Aon's broking function, including the business' go to market strategy and relationships with insurers.
Supported by a strong executive team, James will also lead Aon's Commercial business as it accelerates its growth strategy and continues to realise the potential of the business and its branch network.
"James' experience means he is ideally positioned to build on the great work and assets we have established across both Commercial and Broking. Under his leadership we have an exciting opportunity to further realise our potential and accomplish ambitious growth targets," Mr Lambrou said.
James previously held the role of Managing Director & Chief Broking Officer, Pacific, Aon Risk Solutions. In his prior position, the scope of James' responsibilities expanded to include work on developing the business' Industry Practice Groups, Claims and One Underwriting initiatives.
James also played an integral role in the development of the Commercial business' go-to-market strategy in recent years. His knowledge of Aon's strategic vision, previous experience in the Commercial business and industry relationships make him ideally suited to his combined role.
Taking on the Commercial role, James replaces Ian McLellan, who previously led the Commercial business.
